Bridging the Skills Gap for MP Youth

Madhya Pradesh has one of the youngest populations in India — a demographic dividend that could power the state's economy for decades. But without the right skills, this youth bulge becomes a burden. In districts like Shahdol, thousands of young people complete Class 10 or 12 and then have nowhere to go — no college access, no jobs, no training.

PSEF's Kaushal Vikas Programme exists to change this equation.

Our Skill Centres

PSEF operates 3 Kaushal Vikas Kendras in Shahdol district:

  1. Main Centre — Shahdol City (near bus stand)
  2. Block Centre — Beohari
  3. Rural Centre — Jaisinghnagar (mobile unit)

All centres are equipped with computers, internet connectivity, and tools relevant to each trade.

Courses Offered

Computer & Digital Skills (3 months)

The most popular course at PSEF. Covers:

  • MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Internet, email, and Google Workspace
  • Tally ERP basics (accounting)
  • Government portal navigation (PM Kisan, UIDAI, CSC services)

Graduates: Work as data entry operators, shop assistants, CSC center operators, and office staff. Average starting salary: ₹7,000–₹12,000/month.

Electrician Training (6 months)

Affiliated with ITI syllabus. Covers:

  • Domestic and commercial wiring
  • Motor rewinding
  • Solar panel installation
  • Electrical safety standards

Graduates can work independently or join electrical contractors. Many PSEF-trained electricians now run their own small businesses in Shahdol.

Mobile & Electronics Repair (4 months)

With smartphone penetration exploding even in rural MP, mobile repair is a high-demand skill:

  • Smartphone hardware and software troubleshooting
  • Laptop servicing basics
  • CCTV and DTH installation
  • Spare parts sourcing and business management

Plumbing and Sanitation (3 months)

Aligned with Jal Jeevan Mission — covering:

  • Pipe fitting and water supply systems
  • Sanitation infrastructure
  • Water purification systems

This course has excellent employment prospects given the ongoing rural infrastructure expansion under central government schemes.

Beauty and Wellness (3 months, women-focused)

  • Hair cutting, styling, and colouring
  • Skin care and basic facials
  • Mehndi design
  • Salon management and entrepreneurship

Graduates set up home salons or work in parlours. Earnings range from ₹5,000–₹15,000/month.

Employment Linkages

Training alone is not enough — PSEF works to connect graduates with jobs:

  • Job fairs — organised quarterly with 20+ employers from Shahdol, Jabalpur, and Rewa
  • Industry partnerships — MoUs with local contractors, shops, and IT companies
  • Self-employment support — help with PM Mudra Yojana loans for starting businesses
  • Apprenticeship placement — with MSME units in Madhya Pradesh

In 2024–25, 780 youth from PSEF training programmes secured employment or started self-employment.

PM Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) Linkage

PSEF is a registered training partner under PMKVY 4.0. This means:

  • Training is free of cost for eligible youth
  • Participants receive a government-recognised certificate (NCVET/NSDC)
  • Stipend provided during training period
  • Priority in government scheme benefits for certified candidates

Success Story: Ramesh from Beohari
